The Molecular Muscle Physiology Laboratory is headed by Prof. Marni D. Boppart.
Our research specifically focuses on identifying intrinsic and extrinsic factors that regulate remodeling and growth of skeletal muscle in response to exercise and physical rehabilitation. This information can be used to address important clinical questions, such as whether these factors contribute to the loss of skeletal muscle mass and function in response to aging, disuse, and disease. The ultimate goal of our work is to create novel therapies to effectively prevent and treat disability, alone or in combination with traditional rehabilitation strategies.
